Home for the Holidays

Yesterday I was helping my mom with some things that she needed done while she was at work, and I was listening to my brothers. While I listened, I was contemplating how glad I was to be home for the holidays and the reasons why and thinking of the little things that remind me of Christmas along with what I would miss if I was gone. I decided to start a list that I'll add to as the holidays continue.
1. decorating cookies
2. singing veggie tales at the top of my lungs with my brothers
3. passing out cookies to our neighbors
4. the Christmas tree
5. Christmas music (and the music my mom plays every year)
6. the generosity of others
7. reading Christmas letters
8. hugs from my siblings/parents
9.wrapping gifts
10. taking my siblings shopping for each other
11. watching Miracle on 34th Street

Hole in the Rock

Our last stop in our grand adventure was Hole in the Rock. It's basically this home that was carved out of rock and is this big hole in the rock. The tour was really expensive though she we didn't go in. We just looked around at all the stuff there was too see around the place, like a trading post, general store, and little statues.

Random Jail Cell

So in the town of Monticello, there is a random jail cell. You can enter it in the back and so we decided to take pictures. Here they are:

Four Wheeling!

Jess and I got to go four wheeling up in the woods. This was my first time ever four wheeling. It was pretty bumpy but fun and after a little while I got to try driving. It's a lot harder than it looks with all the gear shifting. I'm glad my car is automatic!

Arches National Park

Another place we went was Arches National Park. We got to see a couple different cool arches. Here are some pictures:)

Deer Deer and More Deer!

We saw tons of deer in Monticello. Here's some pictures :)

Newspaper Rock

This is Newspaper Rock. It's native american writing from a long time ago that has never been translated but is cool as an artifact.

Canyonlands National Park

One of the places we went was Canyon lands National Park. It was a really cool park with a lot of places to explore. We went with Jess's family. Here are some pictures from our day exploring the area.
This is wooden shoe arch. It's called it because as you can see it looks like a wooden shoe. I thought it was really cool.

Road Trip! - Wilson Arch

Jess and I leaving for our roadtrip
My roommate Jess and I went this last weekend to Monticello Utah to see her family. We left on Wednesday and came back on Sunday night. We had a great time. Jess goes every year because her family lives there and her dad comes up to Monticello for deer season and this year she asked me to come with her. I'm glad I did because it was so much fun!
The first place we visited was Wilson Arch. It's this really cool arch about a half hour away from Jess's family's house and we stopped on the way to her family's home. We took pictures and then decided to climb up to the arch. Then we got to meet this interesting guy who brought his bike up to the arch to take pictures of himself biking across the arch over and over again. It was funny.

Fall Colors!

I was walking across campus today and I saw a tree that was orange. I stopped and smiled to myself because this was the first tree that I have seen change color so far this season. I liked it so much I actually took a picture of it on my phone. Unfortunately, I don't get to see a lot of fall colors here, and it made me realize how much I miss fall. I miss all the beautiful leaves changing in reds, violet, bright orange, yellow! I don't miss raking them though :) So I just thought I'd post some pictures I found online. Enjoy!

Halloween Decorating Fun

My roommate Jess is really good at decorating and put up cobwebs over our apartment. Then she got this great idea to trace us in red masking tape along our apartment. It ended up looking so cool and we took pictures afterward.
