Mark's Half Marathon

This last Saturday was Mark's half marathon. He was so excited and has been training all year. He started out at 5 miles or so a day and worked up to running 13 on the weekends. Mark has been in cross-country for years, but the past couple of years he has been running all the time to get faster and better. The half-marathon was in Danville, PA, about 2 hours from our home. We traveled there and then walked to the start line with Mark. While we were waiting, there was a festival going on and so we walked the festival. Then we came back and watched Mark come in at the finish line. Here's a video I took of him finishing. Sorry it's sideways, I don't know how to fix it.

Here's a video of all of us with Mark after he came in from the race. We are all so proud of him. Mark ended up with a time of 1:48 and came in 3rd in his age group (16-20). Congratulations Mark!

  1. I'm so glad you could all cheer Mark on at his race. I love having my family at the races. Uncle Ben and I ran a 1/2 on Saturday too but we didn't have anyone to cheer us on but we did cross the finish line together!

  2. Mark told us you that you were running in a half that day too. How did you and Uncle Ben do? That's really neat that you crossed the finish line together. I saw this one dad with his like 15 year old daughter running together, and he held her hand for the last little stretch to come in together. The one I thought was really neat though was a father who was running and slowed down near the end to grab his 2 little girls who were probably 4 and 6 and have them hold his hands and run to the finish line with him. Overall though it was really fun to cheer Mark on and see him do so well.
